From the desk of Coach James

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗜’ve survived 3 near-death experiences and still pulled through to create the life I desired

When I was five years old, I was in a major car crash that left me with a traumatic brain injury and paralysed.

Doctors said I probably wouldn’t survive, and if I did, I’d never have a very good quality of life, living in a wheelchair forever.

Although I was very young, the doctors’ words echoed in my ears each day… I felt my life was over.

Growing up I had been listening to all the people around me telling me what to do and who to be because of my disabilities.

For years I struggled with the trauma and neglected myself.

Mental health issues, anxiety, depression, PTSD – I had it all going on.

I used to go to bed hoping I wasn’t going to wake up in the morning.

After years of physical therapy, I eventually learnt to walk again, however, I still felt lost and broken.

In 2011 I almost had a major heart attack from work stress.

But in 2012, my life took a massive turn.

I had the opportunity to interview a world-famous life coach for an international magazine I was sub editor for in Dubai.

This interview, opened my eyes and gave me a new meaning of life.

I was no longer going to play victim because of my past experiences, or circumstances.

I drew a line in the sand and decided to take control and live life on my terms.

I rebuilt my life from the ground up.

I decided, I’m going to change my life no matter what it takes.

And so, I started to work on my mindset.

I started to invest in myself and rewrite my story by taking the pen and becoming the author of my story.

I started to visualise my ideal life and follow my dreams.

Through continuous development, I became the person I was born to be.

A Winner!

In 2016 I wrote a book which was published on Amazon about how to heal from trauma and PTSD.

But then in 2018 life dealt another curve-ball.

I had a brain tumour and had to have surgery to remove it.

Today I am proud of the person I’ve become.

From a person who almost accepted fate and gave up on my life due to my disabilities and experiences, to one who is focused and determined to live life on my terms.

I learnt to never give up, regardless of my setbacks.

If I could contribute my success to one thing, it would be my mindset.

I had to shift my mindset completely to work for me as opposed to against me.

The journey to creating a life I don’t want to escape from has taught me many lessons, and now I get to help and teach people how to live a life of purpose too.

There is nothing more fulfilling than helping people. And I feel blessed to be alive with a mission to serve and help others.

Until you decide enough is enough and that you are worth more, you’re not going to live to your fullest potential and accomplish your dreams.

Doctors said I wasn’t likely to survive the car crash and thought if I did, I’d live a fruitless existence. If I can create a life worth living, so can you.

Finding myself and developing an unstoppable-mindset has been the biggest contributor to bringing me to where I am today.

I believe in you. Don’t settle for less than you’ll be happy with.
